Vice Chancellors

The Board of Trustees of Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, a leading medical university in the region appointed two new vice chancellors for research and academics. Prof. Manda Venkatramana has been appointed as Vice Chancellor – Academics and Prof. Salem Chouaib has been appointed as Vice Chancellor – Research.

“The Board of Trustees is happy to announce the appointment of Prof. Manda Venkatramana and Prof. Salem Chouaib as vice chancellors, in view of Gulf Medical University’s growing size in terms of programs and colleges as well as our research-intensive strategic directions,” said Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder, President – Board of Trustees, Gulf Medical University.

Congratulating the new vice chancellors, Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of GMU said, “GMU’s emphasis on quality education with special focus on expanding our international collaborations is crucial to our aim of transforming into a leading research-intensive University. As the medical university of the future, we consider it important to expand our students’ learning opportunities by joining hands with globally renowned institutions, introducing futuristic programs from time to time and strengthening research.”

Prof. Manda Venkatramana has been associated with Gulf Medical University for over a decade, leading its medical programs as Dean – College of Medicine and Professor of Surgery.

Prof. Salem Chouaib, an internationally known cancer immunology expert and Director od Research at Gustave Roussy, Paris, has been heading GMU’s research function, leading the University’s achievements on various research initiatives and outcomes.

The new vice chancellors thanked the GMU Board of Trustees and said that they looked forward to utilizing their skills and experience to enable GMU build on its achievements.
